Purple Rain

“There is something liberating about just having what you need, on your bike… A tent, a roll mat, a little bit of food, a bit of petrol in your tank and a vague idea of where you’re going and that’s all you need.” – Ewan McGregor (12-Cauac) expressing Cauac’s sense of freedom

Cauac – rain clouds are collecting water and bringing a storm of Purification and freshness. Tomorrow comes the last day of the current Tzolkin round, but before graduation and kingship comes the Storm.

Kiss the frog

On April 21st last year (2016), 12-Noj/Caban on the Tzolkin, a great musician departed from the mortal plain at the tender age of 57. He was born 12-Cauac.

Like a typical Cauac musician, he had a natural knack of looking like playing whatever instrument he was playing was the easiest thing to do. It came so naturally. Growing in a house of musicians, from an early age he learned to play an extremely wide variety of instruments. His life was a continued process of learning. This, too, is a Cauac-type characteristic.

In the rehearsal room and back stage, he was known to be extremely talented in putting good bands together, and keeping them tightly knit, committed and loyal. A typical social Cauac, his band members always felt part of a family. He spend most of his time in his own huge home, with his band mates. A musical community which he gave birth to, centered around him as their enabling, but strict Mother Superior.

On stage, this particular musician was always known to be a role-model showman. Giving his audiences around the globe unforgettable experiences, ending shows with everyone wanting more. This to is a Cauac hallmark.

There was always something very feminine about this male singer/songwriter. He dressed colorfully, wore jewelry and extreme long hairdos, along with makeup and high heels. Cauac again manifests as a female nawal.

From a tender age, his life experiences were of the tempestuous and traumatizing nature. He was born epileptic and used to have seizures when he was young. He once said: “My mother told me one day I walked in to her and said, ‘Mom, I’m not going to be sick anymore,’ and she said, ‘Why?’ and I said, ‘Because an angel told me so.'”

When he was 39 he had his first child born with a severe birth defect, only to die a week later.

Cauac types are often plagued throughout their lives with illnesses and shaky mental dispositions. They also have the knack of causing turmoil in the lives of the people most close to them.
